Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Dr. Todd Jones Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments more efficient. The ability to display digital x-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms allows us to show you any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
We strive to provide our patients with efficient dental care, and make sure that they are fully informed about their oral health. The dental technology in our office helps us do that.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays use digital sensors rather than traditional photographic x-ray film. This technology produces highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions, allowing your specialist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic x-rays allow our specialist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic x-rays are used to help plan treatments for dentures, extractions and dental implants.
iTero 3D Scanner
The iTero® intraoral scanner takes highly accurate, 3D impressions of your bite, allowing us to plan your periodontal treatment in real time, and to store data digitally. This technology also allows us to easily share your scans with other members of your dental health team, to aid in treatment planning.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device which can help your specialist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualisation technology, screening can be performed in our office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning, including analyzing your airway for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.
